Who We Are
Horizons at St. Richard’s mission is to provide inspiring learning opportunities outside of school through a joyful, high-quality program and a long-term commitment to partner with students and families.
Our Mission
Our History
Horizons at St. Richard's Episcopal School began in 1996 with a group of people committed to reversing summer learning loss. Over the course of 25 years, Horizons at SRES has transformed from a small summer program with just one grade level to a program of 150 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
In the future, we plan to grow so that we can serve even more children in Indianapolis who can benefit from high-quality summer programming.
Horizons National was formed in 1995 to replicate the original Horizons program, which began over 50 years ago to serve low-income students in Norwalk and Stamford, CT. Today the network spans from coast to coast, with 52 programs in 17 states and growing. In the next three years, Horizons seeks to more than double the number of students served, with the goal to have the capacity to serve 10,000 students.
Horizons National is based in Connecticut and supports its affiliates with training for staff and board, funding opportunities, and additional services.
